Penguin Drums was started in February 2006 by John Simm, and has evolved from solely eBay selling with the addition of the www.penguindrums.co.uk website.

The Penguin Drums philosophy is to make customers secure in the knowledge they will receive exactly what is described, and can rely on excellent pre and after sales service. This is achieved by clearly photographing, correctly describing and pricing second hand drum and percussion items realistically.

A bit about John:
I've been drumming for about 9 years, on and off, and have always had an interest in the second hand market due to the fact it was the only place I was able to afford drums for some time. I play for a band called UR Penetrators (www.myspace.com/urpenetrators).We've released an album in Japan called 'My Only Lover' which got translated on one website as 'My Only Rubber'. It's great fun, and I highly recommend anyone thinking about joining a band to get out there and do it!

I play a Yamaha Birch Custom absolute in amber fade, 20x16, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14 with either a Premier Genista birch 14" snare or a Mapex phosphor bronze 13" snare plus a 10" Pearl maple side snare. Cymbals are either Sabian HHX and AAX or Zildjian K and K Custom depending on the situation.
It helps that I know a fair bit about what I'm selling as I've tried and used many different types of equipment, and I take care of my stuff. All items that pass through Penguin Drums are cleaned, missing or damaged parts replaced and given some TLC, so that you know you'll get exactly what is shown.
